As you have no doubt observed by now, the outline structure in the Notebook tab allows you to collapse or expand groups of pages. You are probably familiar with this type of outline hierarchy from other software programs and web pages. It is common to use plus () and minus () icons which can be left-clicked by the mouse to collapse or expand. Collapsing hides all children of a page and expanding shows all first level children at a minimum. If the child pages also have pages, they may or may not be expanded.

In the table above you can see there are entries for Expand and for Expand All . Expand All will ensure that the page you expand and all of its children at all levels are expanded. If you instead choose only Expand, then all immediate children of the page will be visible, but whether the child pages or lower pages are expanded depends on previous settings. Of course, Collapse and Collapse All work similarly.

From the table above you can see that you have three different ways to expand or collapse pages. First, you can use the mouse to left-click the plus () or minus () icons. You can also use the hotkeys. If the desired page is selected, just press the right arrow to expand it and the left arrow to collapse it. If you want to expand the page and all of its children at all levels, then press Ctrl+Right. Similarly, Ctrl+Left will collapse the page and all of its children. Finally, the expand and collapse operations are also available in the right-click menu. Simply right-click on the page you wish to expand or collapse and choose Page -> Expand/Collapse, then select the option you want.

I expect you will rarely use the right-click menu for expanding and collapsing, but it is there as a reference and a place where you can view the associated hotkeys if you forget them.
